Stairway to Stardom (1985) - Show Open

Everyday this week as soon as I get into work my GChat has popped up with a YouTube link from my friend Irene linking me to a new clip from “Stairway to Stardom”.This morning she also included a link to a story that NPR did last month about “Stairway to Stardom“.

If you want to waste a whole day of work YouTube these videos.

There are many things in this world that are ridiculous… here is one

The 80s were a time of experimentation.  The 00s are not.  I wish I could go back to the 80s and live it as I am now… in my 20s.  I wish I could go back to the 80s and start a super corny electronica band and make music that wouldn’t be appreciated in my decade. I wish I could have used one of the first macintosh computers, you know the ones that have that terrible amber screen and you can onlz write code into, and if you mess up one line your screwed.  Yeah, those were the days.  The days when ingenuity worked hand in hand with innovation and weren’t afraid to get back up if they stumbled.  The days when cars could be completely made out of stainless steel and open their doors upwards. There was nothing that could not be done in the 80s.

I went home for lunch and I was watching this Travel Channel Show I Tivo every week called “1000 Places to See Before You die”. I think the title of the show is kinda funny because everyone knows there’s no way you could actually see all these places, so really, I think it should be called “1000 places, most of which you’ll never see before you die.” Now besides the title of the show really bumming me out, the actual content of it cheers me up!  I like to see all the marvelous places around the world and to learn about the different cultures. The one I just saw was about Nepal and Bhutan and I learned that the traditional clothing worn by Bhutanese women is called the Kira, an ankle-length dress made of a rectangular piece of cloth held at the shoulders with a clip and closed with a woven belt at the waist.

Cool, uh? I would be the happiest if I had a job like Samantha Brown or this couple from the show. I’m so jealous! Of course, I would need to take my family and a few of our good friends along because I would miss them too much.  Don’t worry that includes you too madam groucho!

madam groucho!!!

I don’t know about you all but I’m pretty convinced we’re going to have to move to a new planet someday, and with the current state of affairs I think that date may be sooner rather than later. So, this morning when I was reading this article I became ecstatic.

last frontier

NASA found another huge clump of celestial matter out there, big enough to hold thousands of new galaxies. My hope is that there’s at least one planet out there with sustainability for human life. Oh please please, Universe, I don’t need much just a little oxygen, water, and a temperature somewhere between 0 and 100 degrees… I’ll bring the celery sticks ^_^
